Welcome to the Crab Lab

Dr. Donald Mykles heads the Colorado State University research group known as the “Crab Lab.” The group, composed of undergraduate and graduate students, uses cellular and molecular methods to study crustacean molting physiology.

The research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that control molting, muscle atrophy and limb regeneration in crabs. Graduate students work on a number of research projects related to these studies. They also mentor undergraduates and teach them research techniques. By the time most undergraduates leave the lab, they have designed and completed their own projects, and many present their findings at science conferences.
